Relationship
Neighbors
Jesus made a neighbor the hero of his most famous story about love. The people nearest us geographically are not an accident.
When the relationship is good
Attitudes
I see the people on my street and in my building as people God placed near me on purpose
I understand that loving my neighbor is not optional — it is the second great command
I am interested in my neighbors' lives, not just tolerant of their existence
Actions
I learn my neighbors' names and use them
I look for one practical way to help a neighbor this month — without expecting anything back
I am outside and available enough that neighbors can actually encounter me
When the relationship is hard
Attitudes
I choose not to return hostility or indifference with the same
I remember that Jesus specifically chose a despised outsider as the hero of the neighbor story
I see a difficult neighbor as someone Jesus died for, the same as me
Actions
I do not retaliate or escalate — I look for one small move toward peace
I pray for my difficult neighbor by name and by situation
I keep being kind in small, low-cost ways even when it is not returned
