Relationship

Student

Being taught is an act of humility. How we receive instruction — and from whom — shapes who we become.

When the relationship is good

Attitudes

  • I approach learning with humility, knowing I do not yet have the full picture

  • I see my teacher or coach as someone God has placed in my path for a reason

  • I am genuinely teachable — not just compliant on the outside while resisting on the inside

Actions

  • I prepare and show up ready, as an act of respect for my teacher's investment in me

  • I ask questions when I don't understand rather than pretending I do

  • I apply what I am learning, not just absorb it — truth is meant to change how I live

When the relationship is hard

Attitudes

  • When I disagree with a teacher, I stay respectful — I can question without being contemptuous

  • I do not let a bad teacher become the reason I stop learning

  • I take correction as useful information, not as an attack on my worth

Actions

  • I bring my frustration with a teacher to God before I take it to classmates or teammates

  • If I am being treated unjustly, I address it through proper channels with respect

  • I pray for my teacher or coach — for wisdom, patience, and their own wellbeing
